Pollinate Pro is an extended release bee attractant system. Proper use of Pollinate Pro can encourage honey bee foraging and enhance pollination in flowering crops where honey bee pollination is important or required. Pollinate Pro maximizes the release of these attractants giving the product longer life in the field, while protecting and containing the active ingredients in an easy to apply material.
Pollinate Pro is an innovative Inert organic adhesive that easily applies and adheres to plants, stakes or trellis systems. In most cases the attractant is applied once a year right before pollination begins and release extends through the complete flowering seasons. For plants that bloom more than once growing season and/or for more than 6 weeks such as strawberries, raspberries, and tomatoes, the application should be repeated every 4-6 weeks for best results. Pollinate Pro uses a unique blend of attractants specific to the pollination period.
Pollinate trials started over five years ago investigating natural base attractants to encourage honey bee pollination and foraging. Field trials were conducted using several types of applications and prototypes until it was discovered that using our current inert organic formulation dispensed from a cartridge offered almost 4 times the release rate of previous prototypes using a straw system. Release rates were conducted via an in-house mass loss rate (mg/day) using an air circulating environmental chamber. Release rates were conducted via an in-house mass loss rate (mg/day) using an air circulating environmental chamber.
During initial trials, the application rate was either 2 or 4 points of dispensing as compared to the control. Through our analysis and R&D improvements, the current version only requires 1 single point of dispensing to achieve the same result as published in the prior study, thus eliminating 75% of the application needed
When Instar Naturals approached me this year for a trial of Pollinate Pro, I was skeptical on its effectiveness. With 6 acres of Bing and Rainier Cherry's in my orchard, it was expected to be a great year for my Cherries, however, it turned out to be a tough year for industry pollination.
Because I used Pollinate Pro on my North Orchard, the effects of the decreased pollination were eliminated any my yield was 3X over my south orchard. Each tree in the north orchard had approx. 65% more cherry's than the south property.
